Socks for Red Dirt Knitter

I tried to get a clear picture of our red clay for Red Dirt Knitter. It didn't work out, the colors are very washed out. The socks for instance are really a grey and lavender, the dirt is very red. Oh well. I did get an interesting picture of an awesome bug and you can see the dirt colors well in that one. I'll post that on my blog. Have a great Sunday everyone!

Traveling Socks

Or, Socks On a Train. Yes, these are the same two pairs of socks that I have been showing you for weeks now. The difference is that they both now have heels. (The Dye-O-rama sock gained it's heel after this picture was taken.) They are both coming with me to see the Yarn Harlot in an hour or so. Wheee!

Finally!

I am happy to announce that I've finally completed the Harlot socks. So named because I bought the yarn when I went to see the Yarn Harlot in Oklahoma City.

Specs: Regia Color Farbe 5033 Color Partie ...2 skeins with some left over. They could have been longer. Machine washable and dryable.
Needles: #2 DPNS

I LOVE this yarn. It has stood up to repeated frogging with noticeable wear or fuzzing..is soft and comfy. I want more! I don't know why I had so much trouble with these guys. My brain must have disconnected at some point so they spent a lot of time in time out. And now, I thought I'd really be glad to have them done..but I kinda miss them. I guess I'll have to cast on some more socks *G*

OS is for

Oh, sh.. well, not finished. I'm knitting a sock for Second Sock Syndrome Swap but I seem to be doing as much tinking as knitting. It's a 4 round pattern, rounds 2 and 4 are knit, round 3 is the same as round 1 except it shifts the start. I have no problems knitting round 1 but those exact same stitches in round 3 keep kicking my butt! I have just once again gotten to the end of round 3 to find the stitch count is short. I verified rounds 1 and 2 as accurate and I've reknit this round 3 twice now. Stitches seem to be accurate but one stitch short. Grrrr. I'm leaving it for weekday knitting only because I'm alone in the house then. Obviously, I can't knit this with any kind of distraction around.

F is for finished...

I decided this week to send these finished socks to my boss in Texas for her birthday this week. That was the incentive I needed to finish these. They turned out well, and they are soft and warm. I am not sure how much of a chance she will get to wear them in Texas, but I know she will appreciate the effort.

I need to think about casting on another pair, but for right now I am basking in the glow of finishing the darn things.

Yarn: Knit Picks Dye Your Own
Dye: Kool Aid Blueberry and Lime flavors
Pattern: Laura's Fluted Banister Socks
Start date: 7/22/06 first appearance Journey/Def Leppard concert
Finish date: 9/9/06

Funky Socks

Funk_1

Yesterday I challenged readers of my blog to "Funk it Up". Pick out a pair of your favorite socks and pair them with some fun shoes. I'd love to see what you come up with. Post a link in my comments to your photo!

Mamae

I've also been test knitting some socks for Bev. I can't show you the socks, but I can show you the lovely yarn from Mama-E. The colorway is June Bug.

Out of Timeout..at least for now

Socks came out of time out last night (Tuesday) and we're heading into the home stretch. I don't think I had this much trouble with the first pair I made. My brain must have taken a vacation. I know..it's not Sunday. But play like I'm just way early for next Sunday

Carry On...

Moving right along - I cast on for the Nasturtium anklets - knitting em both at the same time and I've just finished the gusset...now for a couple inches of knitting before heading into the toe decreases! Whoo hoo! (as we can see, I am a dreadfully slow sock knitter and I'm sure I'd be "killed" by now if I was participating in the Sock Wars) LOL

It's Sunday, right?

It has to be Sunday someplace in the world...a day late, but here they are.

Sunday Socks

Vera_jays

I finished a pair of Jaywalkers this week. They are in Lorna's Laces, color Vera. These will be perfect for the fall.

Biking Socks

As you know, we Squid take our biking very seriously. The first Corn Maze sock has decided to get a jump on it's unfinished mate by doing some training on the stationary bike.

Here it is relaxing a bit on the sweat catcher. (Don't panic -- the sock did not work up much of a sweat .)

New Swatch...New Socks...Maybe...

Christmas is right around the corner - so, I am starting on a pair of socks for my daughter...she doesn't know...

The yarn is Plymouth Yarn - Encore DK - 75% acrylic and 25% wool. I love the feel of these socks! Soooo very soft. This will be a great alternative sock yarn for Scarlett too as she cannot wear 100% wool...My daughter on the other hand can - but, I know most everything goes in the washer and dryer...so, I am playing it safe.
